About the Event

Each ticket is for one person to mount one staghorn fern and includes all materials for each person make their own landscape. Age friendly. This plant workshop is held at the LBT Field Station in Holgate.

You can find young staghorn ferns sold in pots, mature stags like to be mounted or hung because, like air plants, staghorn ferns are epiphytic plants, which means that in they grow on other plants or trees in their natural growing environments. They store up water and nutrients not through their roots but through their fronds, using the root ball as an anchor. Staghorn ferns can be spotted in the wild growing daringly on top of trees or inside of their crevices. Hang or set on a table, these plants are a work of art and can be a great addition to any room! Mist often, and water once a week, these plants like to be around moisture and out of direct light. These plants are non-toxic to pets.
