About the Event
Staghorn ferns are a rugged and elegant plants that can provide depth and texture to any room. In this class we will teach you how to mount these ferns onto cedar boards with moss and twine for creating a wonderful work of living art!
Outside of their natural habitat, staghorn ferns suffer if left in the potting containers they are sold in. Much like air plants, staghorns are a tropical species called epiphytes (ep·i·phyte / ep-i-fight) that grow on trees or other other natural formations. They store up water and nutrients not through their roots but through their fronds, using the root ball as an anchor instead of a food supply.
Recreating an ideal home for them indoors isn’t as hard as you might think and we are here to teach you how!
All materials will be provided. Each person will make one wall mount with one fern.
